Training with Program for Theological Education by Extension (PTEE)
Date: March 15, 2024
Location: Amman, Jordan
Organizer: Program for Theological Education by Extension (PTEE)
By Daniel AqlehI had the honor of participating in a training workshop hosted by the Program for Theological Education by Extension (PTEE) in Amman, Jordan, on March 15, 2024. The PTEE is dedicated to imparting theological education to Arab-speaking Christians and church leaders across the Arab World, playing a vital role in advancing God’s Kingdom.
Upon arrival, I received a warm welcome from Salam Jarasat, the E-Learning Director of PTEE, who acknowledged my representation of them in Palestine and expressed appreciation for my attendance.
The workshop brought together around 25 leaders/advisors from various churches in Jordan, spanning from 10 am to 5 pm. Throughout the day, we participated in engaging discussions and received practical training aimed at enhancing our roles as advisors. Topics ranged from the essential qualities of effective advisors to strategies for avoiding common pitfalls, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a balance between speaking and listening during sessions.
A key takeaway was the insight that an advisor's speaking time during a lesson should ideally be 30% or less, highlighting the value of delivering pertinent and succinct information.
In addition to the training sessions, we had opportunities for fellowship and networking during lunch breaks, fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants.
The workshop concluded with inspiring remarks from Victor Sadeq, the Director of PTEE, who expressed gratitude for our collective efforts in advancing the Kingdom of God through discipleship. He reiterated that discipleship remains fundamental for nurturing faith and facilitating spiritual growth in others.
Overall, the workshop provided an invaluable platform for learning, collaboration, and reflection, reaffirming our dedication to serving as effective advisors in our respective communities.
